Stanley dock, liverpool

The South Warehouse at Stanley Dock in Liverpool stands as one of the world's largest brick buildings and a magnificent example of Victorian industrial architecture. Constructed with approximately 27 million bricks, it was purpose-built to store valuable commodities such as tobacco, cotton, and silk that arrived from across the British Empire.

After decades of decline and abandonment following the docks' reduced activity, the South Warehouse has recently received planning permission for conversion into residential apartments. While working on a commission at the neighboring Tobacco Warehouse, I was granted rare access to photograph the building in its pre-renovation state, capturing this remarkable structure before its transformation. The dock is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
