Commissioned by Roche to document their diagnostic equipment, I photographed in active pathology labs across the UK, where I captured both the sophisticated technology and the skilled biochemists who operated it daily. These environments presented unique photographic challenges — I was working in spaces where life-saving diagnostic work could not pause, even for a moment. Every image had to be carefully composed around the constant flow of samples, the critical timing of tests, and the concentration required by laboratory staff. I learned to anticipate natural breaks in workflows, to position myself unobtrusively, and to work quickly and efficiently so that the process remained uninterrupted.
